Through the use of infrared sensors, the driver's facial expressions and retinas are monitored to detect the early onset of fatigue.

An audio alert followed by a voice prompt to notify drivers of their fatigue levels.

Alerts are sent via SMS or telephonic, warning fleet owners to take preventative action.
Sleepiness and driving is a dangerous combination and can be just as fatal as drunk driving. Just like alcohol, sleepiness slows driver reaction time, decreases awareness and impairs judgement, increasing the risk of a collision.
Fatigue can lead to:

When considering how much could go wrong when a driver is distracted, the most devastating outcome is not just the collision itself but the potential of a driver fatally or seriously injuring themselves or someone else on the road.
Distraction can lead to:

DriveAlert+ is an early warning fatigue and facial monitoring system: alerting drivers in advance, so that they can take the necessary precautions.
DriveAlert+ mitigating system technology accurately detects objects and full head movements, which results in less bad driving habits and less distracted drivers.

DriveAlert+ helps fleet operators understand what is happening in their fleet and address risky driving behaviours before a fatality occurs.
Through direct risk measurement and our feedback loop, you can create sustainable change, build a safer work culture and increase staff retention.
Observe and record risky driver behaviours and coach drivers with our easy-to-use business Intelligence dashboard.
Optix ensures a holistic safety system is in place, down to revising a company's HR policies and offering policy advice and escalation paths that satisfy top-level managers and fleet drivers to ensure smooth change management.
Our Optix team provide dedicated support with regular check-ins to discuss one's progress and suggest continuous improvements from a business perspective.
MONITORING EYES AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
DriveAlert+ is an advanced early warning system that recognises fatigue and distracted driving by monitoring a driver's retinas and facial expressions. Incorporating the PERCLOS system (Percentage of Eye Closure), fatigue is detected even before a driver closes his or her eyes. A high-pitched alarm followed by voice alerts are used to ensure drivers takes note of their fatigue levels or their distracted behaviours.
The DriveAlert+ and DriveCam work together in the vehicle to detect fatigue and driver distraction. Upon detection the DriveAlert+ signals an audible and seat vibration alert to the driver, so that corrective action can immediately be taken.
Events are automatically uploaded to the Lytx Driver Safety Program – A cloud-based platform where events are reviewed using Machine Review and AI algorithms.
DriveAlert+ Events are filtered and reviewed by a highly qualified and dedicated team within the Early Warning Centre, which operates 24/7.
The Early Warning Centre will contact the Driver's Fleet Manager by phoning, email and/or SMS upon detecting a critical event.

Integrated with DriveCam
By linking DriveAlert+ to DriveCam online – not only are drivers warned about fatigue and driver distractions, but video clips are also generated for fleet owners to assess the occurrence – whether cell phone use distraction, sleep apnea or other driver distractions.
This service is purpose-built as an active backup for the DriveAlert+ solution and occurs when the DriveAlert+ is triggered a second time within 2 minutes. The video clips comprise of a 12 Second DriveCam video event (8 seconds prior to the trigger and 4 seconds there after – both inside and outside the vehicle).
The event is automatically sent to our 24/7 Early Warning Centre where the video is reviewed immediately to reduce false positives and to ensure the highest levels of data accuracy for reporting purposes.

SPEED TRIGGERING
The unit is configurable to start monitoring at speed intervals of either 20 km/h, 30 km/h or 45 km/h.

NIGHT-TIME INFRARED SENSORS
Built-in infrared sensors allow for accurate monitoring of the driver, even when driving at night.

TAMPER-PROOF CASE
The unit is installed in a tamper-proof case, then mounted in position to avoid setting adjustments, power disconnection, etc.

UNAFFECTED BY GLASSES
Facial and retina monitoring is not affected by drivers wearing glasses or sunglasses.

TEMPERATURE RESISTANT
All components can operate normally in extreme temperatures ranging between -10 degrees to +50 degrees Celsius.

ADJUSTABLE VOLUME & SENSITIVITY
All units' camera sensitivity and alarm volume are adjustable to fit your requirements.

DRIVECAM INTEGRATION
DriveAlert+ can also activate DriveCam and send video footage of fatigue and distracted driving incidents.

ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS
All light sensors and cameras can operate in low light, meaning DriveAlert+ is able to operate in all weather conditions.

VEHICLE START-UP SCANNING
On each vehicle start-up, the DriveAlert+ monitor will scan the driver's eyes and facial features to recognise any future changes related to fatigue or distraction.

24/7 BACK-TO-BASE MONITORING
All incidents will be continuously recorded, stored online and reviewable afterwards, except for urgent incidents which will be alerted and attended to immediately.

DRIVECAM ONLINE® IS YOUR KEY TO DRIVER RISK MANAGEMENT SUCCESS.
Our web-based application, DriveCam Online®, ensures accountability and allows bench-marking across your organisation. With 24/7 secure access, DriveCam Online® provides the critical information you need to monitor fleet risk, prioritise focus areas and provides the necessary tools for successful, sustainable driver coaching.

Proprietary predictive analytics, combined with expert video review, highlight the causes of poor driving and prioritise actions needed to reduce fleet risk and operating costs.

Information is available in a high-level format, as well as allowing for one to drill down and pin-point exact areas of concern.

Driver Safety Scores are used to show specifically who and what are the riskiest behaviours in one's fleet. This information is used by fleet owners for coaching purposes to prevent future collisions.

Coach and driver meet and review coaching behaviours (both video and non-video) and mutually agree on an Action Plan to achieve the desired behaviours. Coaching Sessions are then set up, to monitor behaviours.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), with enriched video footage
We have gathered and reviewed an enormous amount of driver data, over 100 billion kilometres, this has led to an in-depth understanding of fatigue and distracted behaviours, which has enhanced the accuracy of our artificial intelligence technology. Our DriveAlert+ only detects and alerts when a definitive fatigue or distraction behaviour occurs.
In order for a DriveAlert+ to record video footage, the device needs to be linked to a DriveCam. In respect for a driver's privacy, DriveAlert+ when linked to a DriveCam, does not record a driver, unless the Artificial Intelligence detects symptoms of fatigue, or distracted driving behaviour, for example eye's off the road or texting. When a driver is driving safely, there is no need for them to be recorded
The alarm and voice system is designed to help drivers self-correct risky driving behaviour. Managers are not required to intervene unless there are patterns of risky driver behaviours.
If a driver is driving safely, free from fatigue or distraction, the device will lay dormant and won't affect the driver in any way. However, if for any reason the driver does become distracted or tired the DriveAlert+ will activate.
